Does anyone know what maintenance/cleaning is required for evaporative air conditioners on the roof? - evaporative air conditioner

I am in my house for 3 years and I noticed that generates the air, does not seem as cold as last year. I think I remember something about washing? but have no idea what that means or implies. Any help much appreciated.
